Our mission is to implement a comprehensive strategy to the reentry and reintegration process for returning citizens.
Mass incarceration continues to impact the United States like no other industrialized country in the world. To continue to allow men and women to be incarcerated without a holistic strategy, to prepare each one to successfully be reintegrated into society is a tragedy as horrific as a mass shooting. Therefore, Reentry United in coalition with Mettle-Works Integrated Health Care Services Agency, TIS Foundation, Life Empowerment Enterprises, The Denney House, RAN DC, Returning Citizens Magazine, Reentry Institute, and a host of reentry resource providers across the country have incorporated into our common mission to become change agents within the reentry space, the priority to become a leaders in providing comprehensive reentry/reintegration solutions. The greatest predictors of a successful reintegration of a returning citizen is reentry programming prior to release, solid family support, stable housing, job training, and employment. We have developed a holistic strategy to encompass each of these crucial areas.
In Phase One we will continue to build on the highly successful Faith and Character Based Dorm/Prison Reentry Model implemented in the Georgia Department of Corrections, which is on of the most impactful Theraputic Community Models in the country. We have partnered with the visionaries who developed this reentry dorm/prison model which has greatly reduced recidivism by the graduates of the program. A white paper outlining the impact of this 21st century solution to reducing mass incarceration will be released in 2023.
Investing in housing and services for returning citizens reduces mass incarceration by simply preparing returning citizens to be successful upon release rather than preparing them to fail and go back to prison.
